Isabella (Miss Izzy), born in Newcastle, began dancing at the age of 4 under the guidance of Marie Walton Mahon, at Marie Walton Mahon Dance Academy in Lambton. Here she trained for 18 years, studying Classical Ballet (RAD), Jazz, Contemporary, and National Character (Korobushka). Isabella was selected to perform in many eisteddfod groups and performances from a young age. While Isabella was always drawn closer to the Jazz & Contemporary styles of dance, having trained under Debbie Ellis Linnert, she understood the crucial role classical ballet played in laying the foundations in order to excel technically across many dance styles. Under excellent guidance and training, Isabella completed all RAD Classical Ballet exams from Pre Primary right through to Intermediate. Alongside her ballet exams, she also completed and excelled in the Korobushka syllabus Character Exams. 

 

Isabella graduated from Hunter School of Performing Arts in 2008, completing her HSC Dance, where she was nominated for 'Callback'. Her dance performances include featuring in The Australian Dance Awards (Sydney Opera House), Sydney Eisteddfod, Schools Spectacular, Starstruck (featured dancer), Hunter and State Dance Festivals, and, State Shakespeare Festival. Isabella's love for choreography began at a young age, choreographing for such large scale productions as Star Struck at age 16.

 

Graduating from the University of Newcastle in 2014, Isabella holds a Bachelor of Business (Marketing Major) and a Diploma in Languages (French Major). During her studies, she continued her dance training, as well as teaching dance at Warners Bay High School for 3 years, choreographing for performances such as Hunter Dance Festival. Isabella's creative and artistic flair can be seen through both her award winning choreographic works, as well as through her visual marketing skills. Her tertiary training in Business and Marketing has been incredibly beneficial in supplementing her career in the dance industry.

Isabella has been an instructor at Ablaze Dance Academy for over 6 years now. She is incredibly passionate about her teaching, caring in nature, and focused on catering to the needs of the individual student. She strongly believes in the importance of keeping up with the ever changing trends within the industry, whilst perfecting and maintaining correct technical foundations. Isabella is known for her award winning solo and group choreography, specialising in her strong, dynamic and unique jazz style. Watching students grow as dancers and as people on and off the stage brings her copious amounts of joy, cementing her love and passion for the wonderful art of dance.

Miss Izzy is a certified Progressing Contemporary Technique (PCT) Instructor.
